What Your Company Needs to Know About the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020
On November 3, 2020, Californians voted to approve Proposition 24, the California Privacy Rights Act 2020 (CPRA). The CPRA incorporates and significantly amends the existing California Consumer Privacy Act and further expands privacy rights of California residents, as well as compliance obligations of California businesses and their service providers and contractors. The CPRA also creates the first dedicated privacy agency in the United States – California Privacy Protection Agency which will have the authority to implement and enforce the new law. Businesses only have two years to prepare before the CPRA goes into effect, the time to start getting ready is now. This whitepaper summarizes key provisions of the new Act to help your company get ready for the new chapter in the California privacy law.
