Background on the GDPR

The European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in effect since May 25, 2018, protects privacy rights of the EU residents and imposes compliance obligations on companies collecting and processing their personal data. The GDPR generally applies to companies and organizations in the EU, as well as organizations, regardless of their location, that intentionally offer goods or services to the EU, or that monitor the behavior of individuals within the EU.
