Western Union Customer Records at Vendor Breached
An external vendor system of a former data storage company of Western Union was breached and customer records exposed according to a media report concerning letters sent out by Western Union to customers.
It is unclear how many were impacted or what data was compromised. The archive likely contained customer contact information, bank names, transaction amounts, internal customer numbers and other identification numbers.
The company has said that no financial information or credit card data was disclosed. It is offering affected customers one year of free identity fraud protection.
